About the instructors  

Paula Squitieri PhD.  

Dr. Squitieri has over 25 years of experience working in medical and mental health settings as a clinician, administrator, teacher, author, and consultant. She has a Ph.D. degree in Clinical Psychology. Dr. Squitieri has extensive experience and is passionate about providing trainings for mental health professionals.   

Thomas Faulkner LCSW  

Mr. Faulkner is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with more than twenty years of experience working with children, families and adults in inpatient and outpatient settings.  Mr. Faulkner has a long history of facilitating DBT groups for children and adults and is strong advocate of this evidence- based treatment.

This live workshop is designed for social workers and other mental health professionals at all levels of experience and licensure, as well as school counselors, to explore or gain a better working knowledge of evidence-based treatment.   

Learning objectives  

*Identify the four pillars of DBT. 

*Explain the what and how skills of mindfulness. 

*Describe how chain analysis is used as an emotion regulation coping skill. 

*List three distress tolerance coping skills. 

Course outline  

This course  is an introductory training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy. We will review the 4 main pillars of DBT, which are mindfulness, emotional regulation, distress tolerance and interpersonal effectiveness. We will also introduce activities to teach these coping skills.

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT): Introduction to working with children and Adolescents, Course #3593, is approved by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program to be offered by Psych Whisperer, LLC as an individual course. Individual courses, not providers, are approved at the course level. State and provincial regulatory boards have the final authority to determine whether an individual course may be accepted for continuing education credit.
